From 01:40 on March 4, 2022, the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant site is being shelled by artillery of the Russian Federation, as a result of which there are frequent fires. Extinguishing fires is complicated by ongoing shelling.

The main equipment and power units of ZNPP remain intact.

No changes in the radiation status have been recorded so far. Radiation control data are available on the ZNPP website and are currently within the norm. ZNPP is under the control of qualified personnel dedicated to safety.

The military seizure of a peaceful nuclear facility is part of blackmail not only in Ukraine but in the world. Currently, one of the six ZNPP power units is operating in the network.

No changes in the radiation situation in the Zaporizhzhya region have been registered, the gamma radiation background is within standard limits per the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine. https://snriu.gov.ua/en/news/current-situation-znpp

We continue to update on the current situation at the Zaporizhzhya NPP site, which was seized by the military forces of the Russian Federation on 4 March 2022 after heavy fighting and artillery shelling.

Currently, ZNPP operational personnel monitor the state of the power units and ensure their operation, the shifts rotation is ensured.

2 power units ZNPP is in operation, other one in outage and the cooldown operations are underway.

According to the Zaporizhzhya NPP management, the personnel perform walkdowns of the industrial site and facilities to identify dangerous items and damage to NPP structures, systems and components. More details on the results of the walkdowns will be reported after their completion.

No changes in the radiation situation in the Zaporizhzhya region have been registered, the gamma radiation background is within standard limits. The NPP automated radiation monitoring system and the automated radiation situation monitoring system in the control and the observation areas function in a regular mode.

At 13:30, the heating and hot water supply to Enerhodar was resumed. Relevant piping was damaged as a result of an attack by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on Enerhodar and the Zaporizhzhya NPP on 4 March 2022.

At the same time, the presence of armed enemy troops on the territory of Zaporizhzhya NPP and in Enerhodar negatively affects the possibility of inter-shift rest of the plant personnel and significantly increases the probability of errors during operation, which can lead to severe radiation consequences.

The headline is alarmist. The plant is not going critical. Still, it is of concern.
Was just getting ready to post that myself. Good analysis. I would say that it's not the headline that's alarmist, per se - they're just quoting the UN chief. But, yeah, it's not that bad yet.

Zelensky accuses Russia of shelling own positions at nuclear plant

President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russian forces of shelling their own positions around the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station, risking a nuclear catastrophe.
Russia denies the accusations, pointing at Ukraine for shelling the plant. Ukraine has previously accused Russia of turning the plant into a military base, using the threat of nuclear disaster as a shield, and it has justified previous attacks against the area near the reactor as directed against legitimate military targets. The newest accusation is the first time Ukraine has accused Russia of shelling its own positions in and around the plant.

Why would Russia attack Russian positions at the plant, is Zelensky for real?
