"Collapsing." :LOL: Why? Did all of the Twitter servers shut down? Apparently not.

This is the problem with the narrative-centric approach, rather than the fact-centric approach, to "news" and "world events."
Clearly without an IT workforce background.
Trust me, Twitter and Elon Musk can get server operations personnel to support Twitter servers from anywhere in USA/world.
(And of course MOVE the Twitter servers and Twitter HQ, etc. - and beyond the USA borders - as companies do every DAY.)

When it comes to personnel for new code, really comes down to new features, which can roll out when they want/not at all.
When it comes to personnel for content censorship, that really is a non-issue in the USA, which is the largest market. Other markets can shut Twitter off if they want (and "fine"). OK, and so what? Will Musk care?
The censors want to believe their "policy" protection is so vital that computer information service cannot operate without them.

I have historical news for the censors. Such computer information services have and will exist without supplicating to their demands - before, during, and after Twitter.
What do the censors think we have been doing for the past 30 years since the World Wide Web widespread access?
Relying on their censorship and AI language to filter what the public can/cannot communicate?
WWW active over 10 years before Twitter was even introduced, let alone "popular." We existed just fine.
 
Still begs the question if musk intends on pulling the plug on twitter and making a so called "Twitter 2.0" as musk has been floating that idea around.

Which would mean twitter would be down for sometime until Musk quite literally rebuilds Twitter from ground up staff & platform in his twisted image god knows what that is.

Over night? Not to mention all new IT staff will have to learn Twitter software & programming which also can't happen overnight. 🤦‍♂️ Not sure why its so hard for you to grasp the big picture in this.

I assume given your sarcasm you are not aware of Americas skilled labor shortage particularly in IT? 🤦‍♂️🙄

Well, of course, you must be right, and Twitter must collapse.... (checking... not quite yet). Maybe tomorrow. No doubt it is a Putin-led plot.

"All new IT staff" - here is the thing with IT business: IT professionals don't all speak different languages in terms of technology. And here our ever-trustworthy "media" (99.99% of which would have trouble using anything without a GUI to tell them what to do) would have us believe every system is based on totally custom software, which need specialized engineers. Like the Twitter microblogging app is run on supercomputers, using specialized coding, like Pentagon systems out the 20th century. But for microblogging apps, a common language and technology is how systems continue to operate despite all those political activists (I mean "engineers" (sic)) who believe they are "irreplaceable" :LOL: .

Greatly appreciate your guidance, however. With my 40+ years of IT experience, I definitely am unable to grasp the big picture in this. I am so grateful to be schooled by milennial characters getting the attention of the ever-trustworthy "media" (sic) and of our course by the Intel/military/"national security" community who will helpfully tell us what to think, no matter what we actually know, what we have seen with our own eyes, what we have heard with our own ears. So grateful to be programmed (I mean "educated") by such forces. And grateful to be educated on "America's skilled labor shortage particularly in IT." I will have to tell the thousands of those I work with every day, and more we regularly hire, that they really do not exist, and should put their work worries and cares behind them, as constant regular IT work is just in their imagination.

Serious question, no facetiousness intended - if Twitter goes down or becomes unreliable where will this site source intel and breaking news? There really isn't an alternative.

I hope twitter gets it's shit in order to be a reliable long term social platform. I really hope it doesn't go kaboom.

This is what most people who are rooting for the collapse of Twitter don't understand. There is no alternative right now.

Some people are touting Mastodon, but that place is completely unreliable and more cliquey and gate-kept than Twitter ever was.

We will get information even if twitter,facebook,youtube,reddit, or whatever fail. You cant even keep news inside of China for too long, in the modern world, once information is out, its out.
Will we have it all in a neat site? Maybe not, but people on twitter are getting there news from somewhere, at least it originated somewhere that was not twitter.
Maybe everyone will switch to actually reliable sources to spread intel.
 
I ask as I'm a partner in a digital agency here in the UK. I'm aware of most apps and platforms that come to market, and there's still nothing ready to replace Twitter on such a scale. It takes years for a platform to gain traction, bug fix, evolve, acquire users, advertisers etc. It'll be years before there's a half decent replacement.

I was saying to a pal the other day, what we need is a decentralised, Blockchain based, non-proprietary, and open source exchange like bit torrent but for messaging. Anyone can build front ends using an open API for various different purposes.
