Canada's incoming prime minister, Mark Carney:"These are dark days. Dark days brought on by a country we can no longer trust. We are getting over the shock, but let us never forget the lessons"

What a rube. You can’t trust your own government let alone someone else’s.

Moving from Rube to Lt moron (as you simply don’t qualify for Captain obvious, what part of America first did you not understand? It’s just two words. I don’t think we could break it down any simpler. Get off our coattails and stop expecting to lay tariffs on our goods without us returning the favor. The US will no longer be the world’s doormat.

Seriously this is the best my beloved Canucks could offer up? My cousin in Manitoba is smarter than that. He knows the jig is up. He also opined that the only people that get upset at “America First” are the people that have been busy screwing us over and can’t anymore. Wisdom from Winnipeg.

In Winnipeg, the nights are long!

You know I want to continue good relations with Canada but in the end I really don’t care. They will either make the effort to work with us as a neighbor or not.
In the end the issue will be resolved or it really won’t matter anymore.

Their indignation only tells me where there commitments are.

Mexico, copy paste above

As we all gear up for World War 3, I can't help but wonder whether the USA actually has any allies left.
(And no, Russia doesn't count. 😁)
We still have all our allies left. Relations are actually fine. Most of the bluster back and forth is theater for the masses. Presidents are temporary. Familiar lines will be drawn when it comes to axis and allied powers.

Nope.
Relations are actually fine.
Lol, nope.
Most of the bluster back and forth is theater for the masses.
Nah.
Presidents are temporary.
Yeah, but in some cases that means "they stay in power until they die".
Familiar lines will be drawn when it comes to axis and allied powers.
Meaning the US is going to ship weapons to Russia and go to war against Germany and Japan? Hm... you could be on to something here. 😁

Everything is fine.

Greenland may not send a police dog this year, oh boy

The maple syrup bank is going to get hit before India and Indonesia can help us make good losses from Canada. The consumers will enjoy the lower prices, even if it is a lower grade.

Some of Europeans may not participate and that’s a shame as we could really use some under trained and poorly equipped (compared to US) back up troops.

This just in from Vice President Trump:

The only thing that makes sense is for Canada to become our cherished Fifty First State. This would make all Tariffs, and everything else, totally disappear. Canadians’ taxes will be very substantially reduced, they will be more secure, militarily and otherwise, than ever before, there would no longer be a Northern Border problem, and the greatest and most powerful nation in the World will be bigger, better and stronger than ever — And Canada will be a big part of that. The artificial line of separation drawn many years ago will finally disappear, and we will have the safest and most beautiful Nation anywhere in the World — And your brilliant anthem, “O Canada,” will continue to play, but now representing a GREAT and POWERFUL STATE within the greatest Nation that the World has ever seen!

It's only a matter of time before he moves on to military threats.

Please and thank you!

Do you have zero comprehension of the knock-on consequences of a military invasion of Canada in terms of the US' global influence?
The US basically already has Canada for any reason that matters militarily. This is only for Trump's ego, legacy and base to eat it up unquestioningly.
Just because it's Trump, doesn't make it good or bad. The idea is what must stand on its own merit, not the person saying it.
Yet for this I cannot find any reasoning for it.
Can you present a sound, rational case for invading Canada, weighing long-term and short-term consequences, good and bad?

I would say for a few reasons: to create fortress NA. The USA can exploit all of the resources this land has to offer. With the coming climate collapse 100 - 200 years there will need to be room northwards for the southern AMERICAN population to migrate to when coastal regions and regions closer to the equator become less habitable. Basically the USA can sit tight in in the more habitable subarctic regions whilst extracting and using the vast untapped resources and have the great lakes secured to provide clean water for generations to come. As well, Oil will become more scarce within such a time frame and the fact of the matter is almost all people are alive today because of oil. Crude oil is synonyms with human survival, therefore if you want AMERICANS to survive you need to control as much of it as possible before it gets sold away or otherwise squandered.

What if the Canadians have realized this? Perhaps the reason the government has not develop further extraction is not about saving the environment but rather to preserve the reserves for when oil can not easily be found elsewhere? What if the Canadian government decides to keep these reserves for themselves when things get bad?

What if the moves we are seeing made are not necessarily to the benefit of those alive today but rather to ensure the survival of a countries future population.

The above is all hypothetical but it is my view of how the American government could be planning for the future. Governments must be thought of in terms of a living organism; they all have a innate desire for self preservation.

One other thing I believe to be true, the quality of life of the average person will peak within the coming decade(s) and continue to degrade until the global population falls to sustainable levels.

Yup; it's about Lebensraum. No surprise there.
