Germany passes draft law to strengthen military security, granting soldiers more powers outside of barracks. Reasons are an increased number of drone flights over Bundeswehr & allied bases, as well as suspected spying attempts. Outside of places like barracks, soldiers hardly have any right over civilians.

New Regulations:
  • Soldiers will in future be permitted to check people within sight of a military security area if they are handling drones, surveillance devices, burglary tools, or dangerous objects, or are observing the area.,
  • Military police officers will also be permitted to check people observing military activities – regardless of location, i.e., throughout the country. This includes ammunition transports, exercises, or public oaths of allegiance.,
  • Soldiers with security duties will be permitted to use Tasers.
Pretty big thing in Germany since the separation of domestic policing and armed forces is strict.

It's planned, not passed. To use this Law, it must pass through the Bundestag and this is questionable for reasons. The Conservatives from the CDU do not have the majority to upvote this alone, they must rely on Votes from SPD and Greens. If you read the Text as a native German Speaker, you know that there are a lot of "ifs" and "whens" between the Lines :/
