People from lower economic classes cannot afford items made in the US. The entire reason an iPhone doesn't cost $5,000 is the slave labor used to manufacture them overseas.

Exactly. Americans have gotten so used to buying $300 laptops and televisions that they would revolt in the streets once they started costing ten times that much.

Because there are other laws that he can use. Because there are always other laws or loopholes. You know, how most democracy's die via never ending, vague, legalese loopholes. Both sides been guilty of this.

So now we got to wait another year until the Supreme Court hears the case on these old laws he's testing.

ya but eventually people have to see that the electronics can last them longer then expected without getting the latest and greatest. i upgraded the memory in mine for only 400 bucks and that was easy.

That's fair, and I follow that philosophy myself. My phone is four years old. But its operating system is up-to-date and it does everything I need it to do, so I'm not going to buy a new phone right now. My wife's phone is even older than mine.

My laptop is at least five years old. My truck is 17 years old with 267,000 miles on it.

Very few Americans have that mentality, and you're still going to have to pass through the revolt stage before people make it to our stage. Plus, not only are things not built to last anymore, most of them are connected to the internet, so manufacturers can send out a software update after your refrigerator is out of warranty that causes it to break down. We have proof of concept with this already when Apple rolled out an update that deliberately slowed down iPhones in an attempt to boost sales.
