The UK just closed a long nuclear cleanup chapter at Trawsfynydd. Nuclear Restoration Services says the Higher Activity Waste programme is complete after two decades, with nearly 2,300 waste packages processed and placed into secure long term on site storage.

Sweden’s nuclear revival is moving into state backed industrial policy. The government proposed taking a 60% state ownership/voting stake in Videberg Kraft AB for new nuclear on the Värö Peninsula: 3 to 5 SMRs, around 1,500 MW, with up to SEK 1.8B initial capital and possible later construction injections.

Poland’s nuclear regulator is now coordinating deeper with Central Europe’s nuclear oversight bloc. PAA says regulators from Poland, Slovenia, Hungary, Czechia, Slovakia, and Finland met in Kutná Hora to discuss oversight of existing/planned NPPs, with Poland also briefing legislative changes for preliminary work before final nuclear construction approval.

The U.S. Navy will test the nuclear-powered USS Gerald R. Ford as a floating power plant this summer, using the carrier’s reactors to supply electricity to Naval Station Norfolk.

Putin described Russia’s financing mechanism for Kazakhstan’s nuclear power plant construction as “standard international practice.” He also said Russia and Kazakhstan are not only building a plant, but creating an industry, training specialists, and involving local personnel.
