Oh good; falling back on the tired old "whatboutism" argument. You do care; just not when it's your guy with his hand in the cookie jar. I would be perfectly fine if every single politician who has violated the law while in office was hung in the public square. With apple pie and fireworks afterword. I am so fucking sick and tired of liberals making excuses for Democrats and conservatives making excuses for Republicans. The level of hypocrisy in this country - and on this board - is disgusting. I hope all of you get exactly what you want from your elected leaders. And after you get it, I hope I'm there to see the look on your face when you realize the scope of the con job they've been playing on you for decades.
I have been very clear from the start IF CRIMINAL acts are revealed implicating individuals in or close to the administration. That can reasonably deserve convictions. Then they need charged and prosecuted. As yet as far as I can tell nothing has been brought to light but 8 anonymous bit coin accounts.
But all this current angst about “Potential” repugnant behavior would be much more transparent and sincere from an ethical standpoint. If the same vocalizations had been heard during previous scandals or implied scandals of other presidents.
This anger for political corruption was mostly silent over parade of news reports about the Biden Family escapades. Or how so many politicians come away from political service multi-millionaires from both parties. Like Massie doubling his net worth between 2020 and 2025.
But hypocrisy in politics is always a two way street it seems.
As far as political con jobs. What exactly ever made you think politics is a clean and ethical process. It’s a process of attempting to bring the wishes and needs of 340 million people together for the best hoped for outcome. Through the efforts of seldom wholly altruistic individuals.
I’m sorry that is NEVER going to be pretty clean or ethical.
Doesn’t matter which the nation, people, race, or time in history.
To assume that somehow this should expected or possible should get in line for the Darwin awards. Or maybe it’s just self-righteousness.
The entirety of the Federalist Papers was about how to construct a constitution that would “contain” the willful and manipulative nature of humans government and self-enrichment. Not erase it.
So how to fix it?
Change the laws, you know like make insider trading on stocks or industries illegal for all politicians.
Make it illegal for any politician to knowingly receive funds from ANY foreign source, period full stop. Apply the titles of nobility clause to it and end it.
But you also would have to include things like charitable trust set up only to see them later flow some of those same funds into domestic political campaigns.
As far as what-aboutism, until the scales are willing and successfully applied to all parties and individuals what exactly do you expect in the contact sport or politics.
In that light charges of what-aboutism are nothing more than deflections.
