A ceasefire deal between Yemen’s Houthis and the United States does not include any operations against Israel, the group’s chief negotiator has announced.

Mohammed Abdulsalam told the Reuters news agency on Wednesday that attacking Israel was not included in “any way, shape or form” in the agreement mediated by Oman.

A report on Saudi-owned Al-Sharq TV: Several Arab countries have suggested that US President Donald Trump present an initiative to end the war during his visit to the region this week, and impose it on both sides - Israel and Hamas.

According to the proposal, the US initiative would include an immediate cessation of the war, the return of all Israeli hostages in one fell swoop, and then a full Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip - in exchange for the disarmament of Hamas (using a specific formula, and not as Israel demands), the establishment of a local government to manage the Strip, and the beginning of reconstruction work.

In addition, the proposal includes opening initial steps to promote a long-term political solution.

The sources expressed optimism about the possibility that the American side would accept these ideas, especially in light of numerous indications of Trump's dissatisfaction with the policies of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu - including the fact that Trump is visiting the region without stopping in Israel, the ceasefire agreement reached with the Houthis without including Israel, the direct dialogue with Iran based solely on American considerations, and the negotiations with Saudi Arabia based on mutual interests, without Israeli involvement.
