May-2026 | Hantavirus (Andes Variant) Outbreak

Some australian rodents have antibodies to this virus. 🤔🤫 don't tell anyone.
There will be much unnecessary worry and fear mongering about existing hantavirus vaccine research already going on in some areas. What will not be taken into consideration is hantavirus is endemic in parts of the world where it is transmitted by exposure to rodent populations.
This vaccine research is valid for those areas.

I’m in the midst of reading Robert Kennedy’s book on Fauci. The financial ties and communications are there. If Fauci and his cadre can be kept away from it the hauntavirus will be contained or at the very least not exacerbated.

Here is the current situation update for the Andes hantavirus outbreak as of 2026-05-12 at 05:30 UTC:

There have been 7 confirmed cases of the Andes hantavirus, with 2 probable/suspected cases. So far, all of the confirmed cases can be linked directly to the M/V Hondius. Of the 7 confirmed cases, there have been 3 fatalities. Here is a list of the active cases, their condition, and location:

* 1 British citizen, Johannesburg, South Africa. Improving gradually. Previously in critical intensive care with pneumonia.

* 1 French citizen, Paris, France. Condition is reported as deteriorating as of 2026-05-11.

* Ship's doctor and a ship guide, The Netherlands (Multiple Locations). Both are reported as stable.

* 1 male passenger, Zurich, Switzerland. Confirmed positive and in isolation after reporting symptoms upon arrival.

* 1 American citizen, Omaha, Nebraska. Confirmed positive and currently asymptomatic.

*1 American citizen, Atlanta, Georgia. Symptomatic and currently being monitored in a biocontainment unit.

Additionally, there are suspected cases in Madrid, Spain, and on the remote island of Tristan da Cunha. The Spanish case is considered provisionally positive and is awaiting a confirmatory test.

As of this time, there have been no confirmed cases that cannot be linked directly to the main transmission event on the M/V Hondius.

I will continue to issue updates as the situation warrants.

France : A first contact case (not part from the original group) has been transfere to the hospital in Marseille (South France).

That's someone that was on the Johannesburg-Amsterdam flight (that took several passenger of the cruise)

Thanks wilrod for concise updates

As of 2026-05-13 at 00:00 UTC, there are now a total of 8 confirmed cases, 2 probable cases, and 1 inconclusive case.

* The patient in Madrid has tested positive for the Andes virus.
* The patient in Tristan da Cunha is considered probable but does not have access to testing due to the remoteness of their location.
* There is another person who clearly had contact with the ship who is considered a probable case; however, this person's location is currently unknown.
* The patient in Atlanta received one positive and one negative test result and is considered inconclusive at this time.

At this time, all of the cases of Andes virus can be definitively linked to the cluster on the ship.
