The mine says "INERT" if you look closely, meaning that it's safe and not explosive. Still, an APC like that wouldn't be enough to derail a train, I think.

We forget few wars start with some massive event with troops in contact first day and everyday.
It takes time to mobilize and position armies to “commence” hostilities.
That’s why you here people remark we never saw this coming. That’s only because their not paying attention.
Pearl harbors are anomalies.
War is just a continuation of diplomacy by another means.
War is stupid and costly yes but lamenting they are inexcusable and somehow imply that engaging in one for any reason is foolish. Ignores the reality that oftentimes someone IS out to get you and cause you harm.
It is in ignoring this reality and not facing up to it increases the odds everyday that you will face the consequences of war sooner than later

Again its Russian dissidents. No other explanation then Russian citizens taking matters into their own hand. If they where just fires at NON strategic locations I'd say they just need better fire management. But NO that is not the case.
All the rash of fires are at strategic locations either wartime factories, power plants, or government buildings. That's no accident and Ukraine doesn't have the mean to pull that shit off.
It's not the US otherwise Russia would retaliate and we would know when a Russian cyber attack hits our infurustruce as our lives depend on a smooth non interrupted services weather they be power, water, internet, or cell service which no doubt would be the retaliation if US was doing this to Russia.
If anyone is wondering why we have not seen video or pictures of Russian citizens committing treason is very obvious.
Treason is a death sentence in Russia. Secondly you don't video tape yourself doing a serious crime in a extreme authoritarian state.

I was thinking, do countries have satellites that have weapons grade lasers (ones that can burn)? If so could they be used to start fires? Would they be detected if used this way?
No there are no laser space to ground weapons in space. However they are arming satellites with weapons though its NOT to attack earth but other satellites.
Which is a problem in on itself since our daily lives depend on satellites. Not to mention the domino effect like debris field it would create if they ever where blown up in a war...

People vastly overestimate the ability of hackers to influence fuel and utility facilities. The industrial control systems don't lend themselves to Internet style connectivity and hacking that most criminal hackers would be able to accomplish. If it was hacking, it was not random guys or saboteurs, it was a nation-state, likely with an inside saboteur paid for by another nation-state.
