The Best Nuclear War Films

"The Day After, " "" Threads," and "Letters from a Dead Man" are all very good nuclear war films, too. It's very hard to get "Letters" with English subtitles (it's from Russia) but sometimes a dvd will pop up on Amazon or Ebay. The first two are in English.

Radiation will be the least of your issues once it is at safe levels. Population left is the real danger. Your supplies maybe shared more than you intended.
I remember being told by a character called Leonard Fraser that you could process a human carcass much like a feral pig. Described the various cut equivalents to a pig body. Was a creepy conversation. Turns out he was a serial killer who has since passed away in prison. Known to have murdered at least 5 women but probably many more. He would butcher his victims as if they were pigs for meat with all the victims found to be in multiple pieces. Glad I never accepted any of his home butchered chops.

Not a nuclear war film in the traditional sense, but in my opinion, a very accurate rendition of what a radiological terrorist attack would look like.

I remember seeing that a long time ago. I believe that was made shortly after 9/11. It still makes me shudder to think how unprepared we are for that type of event. I definitely know that our public health services will struggle to respond to a major radiological or biological attack in a major city.

Just found this one on the tube.
This mock documentary uses archival footage, interviews and reports taken out of context and staged interviews to highlight a possible escalation into a nuclear war. In this feature, tension in East Germany, and an uprising triggered by a visit by Gorbachev sees a successful military coup taking place in the USSR. Western actions against brutal crack-downs on civilians involved increases tension between the sides, finally resulting in nuclear war.

I have a story about this:

I saw this movie on YouTube years ago. Thought it was one of the best WWIII movies I ever saw, so I wanted to buy it to support the studio.

Looked and looked and couldn't find a copy to purchase. So I tracked down the producer and sent him an email telling him I loved the movie and wanted to buy it but couldn't find it.

Producer Robert Stone wrote back to me and said if I PayPal'ed him $20, he'd burn me a copy.

Fastest $20 I ever sent!

Without Warning 1994 found this treasure.
This was one of the most frustrating movies I ever saw.

Aliens send an incomprehensible message, part of which gets lost. They then send a rock hurtling toward Earth and get offended when Earth tries to defend itself.

These have to be the stupidest aliens in the universe!
