While I can admit that Blair might be right. He doesn’t have a very good track record and always struck me not as a leader of a nation, but a puppet for his employers.
I’m reminded of when Japan was going to own the world and dominate international economic ownership.
Russia has a one industry economy basically. China carries as much or more debt than the US.
What they have going for them is crappy US policy

You know, after how much we are assisting Ukraine I'm honestly waiting dreadfully for the day I wake up to a modern day Pearl harbor as soon as I check this fourm or the news. We are directly helping in a war at this point just like we did against the Germans and the Japanese.
You are exactly right. People forget history and patterns.

In my opinion, Blair is partly right, if the West wants to keep its place of 1st rank, it will have to go to war with China, Russia, Iran.
To this day, the USA is still the military power, but in other areas it is losing ground, more and more. In addition, the internal problems of the USA, makes it seem weak. Even if the USA
have the biggest army in the world, that doesn't mean they would win a war, the strategy used is more important.

Martial law is not coming. Stop fear mongering.
Protecting Americans’ civil liberties by preventing the U.S. military from being used inappropriately in domestic law enforcement functions. Originally introduced after the previous administration pre-positioned active-duty U.S. military units to respond to national protests against police brutality, this amendment strengthens the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 — which prohibits the Armed Forces from enforcing U.S. laws without authorization — by excluding any information or other evidence unlawfully collected by or with the assistance of the military from being used during legal proceedings.
If I had a nickel for every time I heard this bs...

Ukraine?

Not entirely sure exactly what this means here? Sounds maybe bad if it is effective in the future as well not just the past? But also I'm not sure it means anything? Can anyone clarify?

"Force majeure (lit. superior force, with the sense of overwhelming force, from French) is a common clause in contracts that essentially frees both parties from liability or obligation when an extraordinary event or circumstance beyond the control of the parties, such as a war, strike, riot, crime, epidemic or sudden legal changes prevents one or both parties from fulfilling their obligations under the contract"
Not good news for Europe if you ask me.

About that, maybe here I am the more informated one.

What it is going on in Italy is simply this: NOTHING. I know our polical dynamics.

First, you have to know what the things are here. In the Parliament, the most important Party is "Movimento 5 stelle (M5S)", with 33%. This Party won the election in 2018 with an interesting programmatic platform: "Vaffanculo!", as to say "Fuck off!". I'm not joking, many "vaffa-days" were organized by the Party. The opposite Party, the Party that has the real power in Italy, is the "Partito Democratico (PD)". The M5S electoral program was "fuck off the PD! PD go home! Now we come, and we say fuck off to all that is represented by PD". The leader of the Party is Beppe Grillo, a comedian who, in his electoral harangues, said almost 1000 "fuck off!" per minute.
The other winning Party in the 2018 election, was Lega, with the leader Salvini. The programmatic platform of this Party was to be againt the EU, against the Euro, against the uncontrolled immigration. This leader is famous to post on Twitter provocative photos of himself eating Nutella or wearing sweatshirts with brave slogans. If he goes to Florence, the sign is "W Florence". If he goes to Venice, the sign is "W Venice".

Ok. All them, once having won the election, after almost one year, they went with the PD. The Covid pandemic has worsened the situation. By then, pratically every party in the Italian Parliament is part of the Gouvernement and of the majoriy. The only Party who is in the opposition is "Fratelli d'Italia (FDI)", with Giorgia Meloni as a leader. In all that time, this little party at the opposition has made absolutly nothing in order to oppose the Gouvernement.

To speak about Italian politic is very complicated and it's not even worth it. What I said is just the picture of the situation. In short words: almost 100% of the Parliament is into the Gouvernement, except an handful of really brave mad dogs.

So, what is going on is not an actually problem. In fact, yesterday, the Parlaiment has made the "vote of confidence" and the Gouvernement HAS OBTANEID the confidence, as to say the majority of voters of the Parliament.

Why? This "Italian crisis" is made by M5S, whom has, as said, the 33% of the Parliament.

So: 100% - 33% = 67% > 50%

Pratically, what is going on NOW in Italy is a mummery. In fact, technically, there is absolutely any crisis at all in progress.

Furthermore, what should be the reasons of the "crisis"? Maybe at least one of the most important things of the times we are living? Maybe the lack of gas, the sanctions against Russia that hurt our own economy? The possibility of a war? As to say: something IMPORTANT for the Country? No. The reasons are something marginal about some subsidy. Why all this? Think about what I said about the picture of the situation: M5S has betrayed all its promises: it won the election saying something, just to do exctly the contrary in a way so truly blatant to be understood as true take of a piss. In fact, in the last amminitrative election, M5S is disapperead.

So, what is really going on? The following: M5S is making a mess, just to make the people undestand that is still the Party of the "fuck off!" and Draghi is simply holding the game, because is usefull also for him that people don't really realize that, instead to be a dictatorship with one only party, we are a dictatorship with 1000 parties all of them part of the same majority.
As soon as this mummery will end, M5S will return obedient as before. 100% sure.

So, if Draghi will decide to leave, it will be not because he doesn't have a majority anymore, but ONLY if HIMSELF wants to leave. And it is not be excluded that between M5S and Draghi there is a secret deal about that. M5S "demostrates" to still be the Party of the "fuck off" and Draghi has the good reason to leave making it seem that he is not him to want it.

The REAL QUESTION SO IS THE FOLLOWING:

If Draghi wants to leave, Why he wants to leave?

The more likely scenario, is that after some mess, Draghi still remain as a Prime Minister. But if he wants to leave (and we will discover soon) I have some idea about that. In that case, it is possible that something big and serious is going to happen.

A short update about that.
Tomorrow Draghi will speake to the Parliament and he will clarify if he want to stay, of he want to leave. Personally, I think that he will stay, although IMHO he actually wants to leave. He have attempted to act as the wise man who is ready, in spite of himself, to make a step behind toward the sacredness of the Parliament. Something like that: "If I don't have the confidence like before, I must go...". But the prayers in oder that he stay are too much. In other words, it's become obvious that if he leave, it is just because is him who wants to leave, because, as I said, technically there is no crisis at all, having the Gouvernement the majority. Pratically: no one wants to take his sit, although he has tried to eject before to find himself as chief of a Country in free fall in a few mounths (and this is the reason why no one wnats to take his sit).
but he will try again... after all, if he really want to leave, nothing can avoid it, because the Prime Minister doesn't have particular obligations in this regard, on the contrary compared to the President. He has only the need of a "good reason". Maybe Salvini...

Russia MOD announced that Russia has moved strategic bombers close and are loading them with gravity bombs Ukraine is about to get old world style massive bombing raids!!! Wait for the pictures showing thousands of bombs falling on the front lines it will be glorious!!!

Italy president is trying to stop a general election because the FAR-right Brothers party would win!
Rabobank's Michael Every notes, polls suggest that the far-right Brothers of Italy would come out on top if elections would be held right now. The worsening financial position of households only has strengthened their chances of winning such elections, since they are basically the only big opposition party.

I read now this post. For "FAR-right Brothers" what do you mean? I thinck FDI-Fratelli d'Italia... "Italy's brothers", with leader Giorgia Meloni. However, this party has absolutely no chances to win. Basically, it is a boiled Party as Lega, with Matteo Salvini and Movimento 5 Stelle (M5S), with Antonio Conte/Beppe Grillo. As I said, Lega and M5S won the election against the Partito Democratico (PD), just to go in the same Gouvernement one year later, with the PD. As a consequence, a part of their disappointed voters now simpatize for FDI. So, FDI has actually increased its electors, but not so much, because this Party is on the opposition only as a facade. It hasn't actually done nothing. It is there just to keep up appearances: if not, it would be too much blatant that all the Italian Paties are all of them in the same Gouvernement. But the great part of voters has undestood that, so the great part of the disappointed are not for FDI, but they don't vote at all. In fact, the real winner Party of the last regional and amministrative elections was the abstention. Therefore, the final winner of new political election will be the PD, because he goes to vote almost only who is for PD. This is the current situation. It could change....

Gravity bombs. <shudders>
I can’t wait to see “Old world bombers” (est. 1970 Era) experiencing uncontrolled flight into terrain following multiple missle strikes (est. Last Week)

Dear Mr and Mrs Ivan,
Your sons are dead because the Russian military has handled itself in its usual incompetent manner. Your sons suffered grievously from the in-flight fire and after 8 minutes glourious but futile airmanship, the cause of death was: Massive blunt trauma followed by immediate dismemberment and incineration.
No remains will be returned.

Vlad
