Thats because Im not going to debate both of about this.
Normally you both have interesting positions and sound arguments. I look forward to that in the future.
Of course, Russia is to blame for its cruel invasion and killing of Ukraine civilians. I think I have probably written that 100+ times. There is also the problem with the idea that a ceasefire is untenable. From my experience, the current militarist view of Ukraine's Zelenskyy is a position of weakness, not strength. Real strength begins with mercy for human life and setting an example to stop the killing. The morally superior position needs to be morally superior. In my opinion, militarism is a short-term tactical view, not a long-term strategic view.

I am not unmindful of the fact that violence brings momentary results. Nations have frequently won their independence in battle. But in spite of temporary victories, violence never brings permanent peace. It solves no social problem; it merely creates new and more complicated ones. Violence is impractical because it is a descending spiral ending in destruction for all. It is immoral because it seeks to humiliate the opponent rather than win his understanding. Violence ends up defeating itself. It creates bitterness in the survivors and brutality in the destroyers.

The very likely tens of thousands of Ukraine civilians deserve a cease-fire. Not because Russia invaders within some terrorities cannot be dislodged or defeated, but because sacrificing endless numbers of Ukrainian civilians to do so, sacrifices lives that can never be recovered. The power of peace is more compelling and more world-changing than any military victory. I realize that is an unpopular view, but I have seen it over and over.

Ukrainian forces have begun their counter-offensive in the south. Confidence in their leadership, the chain of command, is a combat multiplier, and so is the artillery provided by the United States and NATO providing fire support. So now, the edge goes to Ukraine.

But what happens when a Russian battalion tactical group says no more? When a commander or his subordinates refuse to follow an order to attack or defend? We haven’t seen an incident of mutiny at the unit level, yet. But it is likely just a matter of time. Losing has a way of doing that. We’re approaching a breaking point.

Just imagine if they had 50 of our M270s that are collecting dust with the hundreds of others we have out by Vegas doing nothing!! Himars is a neutered version of the M270 so why we even bought the dam things I will never know.

They have road tires so they can move faster but that’s it. They have half the missile carrying capability. In a war that’s huge!!

Russia keeps shelling Ukraine grain port city; Volodymyr Zelensky says it shows Moscow can't be trusted:

-MSN <---Link

They will allow it after nothing is left to ship or that the ports are damaged so bad they can’t. They will just say it was like that before the treaty! As Turkey keeps paying Russia for stolen grain they have.

Wait for the next injection of HIMARS, Russia will be screwed and I hope the Czechnians start invading Russia.

Four won’t do much. We have hundreds of old M270s that fire twice the amount of rockets Himars can carry!! Biden must be hoping nobody knows that we have so many old tracked and lethal MLRS systems sitting around in the desert by Las Vegas. If we sent Ukraine 50 of them Russia would have to retreat or use nuclear weapons. Use Nukes and you might get one back.

I don’t know why we haven’t sent them to Ukraine. The Brits sent a few and I can just imagine the guys who operate it feel like the gods of war 😂. They might be the ones in the east doing so much damage while the Himars has been operating in the south.

So we can find a way to rationalize an outrageous remark. But facts do matter. Even when there are those who will call you a "bot" for daring to discuss them.

There is a good argument that Russia has 125 battalion tactical groups (BTGs) with 800 soldiers in Ukraine. That is 100,000 military personnel. Or you could argue there are 168 BTGs (134,400).

But 850,000 military personnel (among just active)? Because that is what 85 percent would really mean.

At some point, we need to be candid about claims being made allegedly by a "U.S. Defense Official" and PBS being a PR mouthpiece not even stopping to think to report them. It really further undermines public trust.

For example, Forbes can make an effort to accurately debate such topics without obvious misinformation.

Russia lost 30 BTGs in the northern cluster secret special candy shop operation! They had to have lost another 50 by now, before they got their act in gear.

Troops were caught calling home talking how bad it was and we all saw the constant tank slaughter from the drones dropping Grenades left and right. They had to have lost a lot of men before they started advancing with their pac man move.

I wonder what General Paton of theirs was responsible for this or is it just shear exhaustion on the part of Ukraine being stretched thin waiting way too long for the Arty they needed?

I know Ukraine wanted to kick Russia hard in the south so they can free Kerhson but they need troops and tanks in the east bad.

NATO needs to step the hell up and give them some more dam tanks that are not cheap weak Russian junk. Tanks are major force multipliers and Ukraine has the perfect roaming support to keep them protected if they can get more Stingers. I haven’t seen enough of them used so where are they all???

I cant find the article but I read the total number is going to be 30 atm. But your right, it is the same four,? Again and again and again.

30? It was 12 after the last four the last I had heard about. I hope they get 30 and another 30 after that in one large punch in the nose shipment

Lets hope the A10's get approved

Fwiw..

Ukraine Official Says Country Doesn't Want Old American A-10s

Air Force officials said last week that a variety of American planes could be given to Ukrainian pilots in their fight against Russia, including the A-10 Warthog. But in a message to Military.com on Tuesday, Yuriy Sak -- an adviser to Ukraine's minister of defense -- made it clear: The country doesn't need A-10s, it needs the more modern F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jet. The A-10s "will not close our sky, they will not stop bombers and missiles," Sak said in a message. "They will be a target for Russian jet fighters and anti-aircraft defense, because we don't have the means neither to effectively cover them, nor to break through the enemy anti-aircraft defence."

Much as Americans like to praise the A10 (yeah, it's cool, it goes BRRRRRT and it saved lives like 20 years ago in Iraq), it's incredibly outdated.

They're not wrong, it's a sitting duck for literally any modern anti-air system.

That is, if it's manned by anyone even remotely competent. I'd imagine there's a couple of people left in the Russian army that aren't complete shit for brains but who knows at this point lol

Outdated, sure, but still the best close air support we have. That is why they pushed back retiring them, nothing compares. Saved my ass more than once in Afghanistan.

Agree. It is an obvious falsehood: "Russia has committed nearly 85% of its military to the war in Ukraine." Reported by PBS Nick Schifrin, and claiming this is from: "from Senior U.S. Defense Official on the war in Ukraine." Does the official have a name?

Because I would like to know who we are paying that can't do basic math. Please get that official some remedial mathematics courses.

Russia has 1 million active military personnel, 2 million reserve military personnel.
The obvious falsehood that Russia has committed "85 percent" of its military to Ukraine is clearly absurd. You don't need to be an "intelligence" or "defense" official to realize that. I would hope.

So for context, understand the 3 million combined Russian military would be about 7-8.5 percent of the actual population of Ukraine. So basically this PBS reporter claims a "USA Defense Official" (who shall not be named?) wants us to believe that the Russian military are almost 10 percent of the population of Ukraine now. And no one even thinks to ask ?????
(Imagine if a "media" "reporter" was claiming that USA had 85 percent of its military fighting in Iraq War. People who can do math would literally laugh at the report. But here when it is Russia, the same level of misinformation can be taken as a sober intelligence assessment. And no one even asks us to suspend disbelief, because it is assumed that we will, because after all, it is about Russia.)

It is a reasonable question to ask why people publish such obvious misinformation.
I would like to believe they really don't understand what they are stating, but there is also a dedicated information operations misinformation campaign (not only within Russia and Ukraine, but also among other nations) on the Russia/Ukraine war. The misinformation campaigns further undermine public trust, at a uniquely bad time in history.

On the other hand, such obvious misinformation from this PBS reporter helps provide another "media" source to block on social media, and of course Twitter could care less about such misinformation - because it is "good misinformation."

And the really sad thing is that every time they make such obvious misinformation statements, other people will start to ask themselves... "and what else are they not telling the truth about?" This does not help in a war against Russia and its cruel oppression against Ukrainian people. It only helps Russia.

Just because a military has 1 million active duty doesn’t mean they are Combat troops! Combat doesn’t happen without many other troops making it possible! Everyone in logistics, parachute packing troops, trainers to nurses and doctors.

We the US has one million but we could only commit 150 thousand to fight at any one time. That’s without a draft. Russias reserve forces are based off men that can walk point an AK and spray, ours are highly trained former military by a few years.

That would be pure badass! Then again their SU-25s are having a rough time. Russia has too much anti aircraft weapons in the area for the moment.

It would be nice if Biden would get out of his daycare, off his rocking chair and give them the dam Reaper drones they initially said they would give them.

They can reek havoc with drone!
