The casualty numbers are speculation. But what reinforces the possibility that the reported numbers of Russian casualties are real is Russia's inability to move forward. The last few days, when TV talks about the war and show the map, it is always commented without changes.

We didn’t worry about carpet bombing during WW2. Our excuse was “they started it”.

Repeating events of the past shouldn't be a crutch either , I mean what about the whole two wrongs don't make it right. This is the whole premise of Russian doctrine , stand their on the podium and read every military event thats transpired over the last 50 years , point a finger and yell , "but they did it !"

British Ministry of Defense report saying it is possible for the Ukrainians to encircle the Russians at Bucha and Irpin. Really the logistical problem remains.

There are times when it starts to look like the Iran-Iraq war. Iraq attacks with much greater force, with better weapons, advances. Then the advance stops and starts to lose ground.

I'm sure the Russians could've had a good supply line. Here's the thing though: they kept thier soldiers in the dark with no way to prepare mentally or make proper preparations. In ww1 iirc canadian commanders got thier soldiers to practice and prepare for specific missions and kept them in the loop with the operation which lead to much better combat performance. At this time British and french were stuck in the thought of only the top should know and understand what needs to happen leading to many failed assaults and more casualties. I think in particular the battle of passchendaele. Anyways what I'm trying to say is it's not the Russian soldiers or possibly local commander but rather the higher ups and political actors that set thier troops up for failure. Treat the troops right and magic happens.

What are we expecting from tomorrow's NATO meeting?
Nothing good. Highly expecting some nations may announce or propose they go into Ukraine independently.

More talks of sanctions, more talks of sending weapons, more talks on how to impose a steeper price on Putin. You know the normal ecalatory measures and statements where getting use to...

The best armed forces of NATO: USA, United Kingdom, France, Turkey. I eliminate USA and Turkey, the most probable would be the United Kingdom,
but Russia would make the link with USA. All other NATO countries are too low.

Putin planned at most 2 weeks of war. And now let's go to 1 month. Maybe Putin will agree to fight in April, but I don't think he will accept the month of May. May 9th and the "mighty" army still at war with Ukraine...

Keep in mind this is not Russia specifically they are referring to. It is if Putin and his immediate cronies come under direct attack, they will go nuclear. Even if his own people rise up against him, he would launch nukes before giving up his power. Literally, a terrorist with thousands of nuclear weapons.

You underestimate the average Russia General and basic officer. They have saved are tails from all out nuclear war in the past when their system was saying it had detected a detonation in Russia, then multiple only for one brave officer to know that deep in his heart that the unthinkable was not happening!

They will shoot Putin dead if he gave the order without the US or NATO attacking them first in a big way and with WMDs unless NATO divisions are pushing into Russia!! They are not crazy or suicidal. The launches have the go down a line in most cases. Only the Silo nukes can be launched directly and they still have to have other people agree to it.

They know launching nukes is the end of Russia and China might even hit them to make dam sure they never get a second strike to further the destruction around the world. You never know the real back door deals that have been made. China has too much to lose if Europe and the U.S. is taken out.

Well, the French situation just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Yea right--If you believe that one, I have some ocean front in Arizona for sale. I don't see Putin backing down, so there's a strong likely hood this could get real tense, especially if the nato meeting go as I figure they will go. We all know that answer already. Better be stocked and ready--it could be a rough ride.

Terribly sorry to hear! Glad your doing better!
Thanks very much. Glad to see your elevated status here.... Your work is as always very good, something many of the other members particularly the junior ones, should pay attention to. I've been through the Cubn missile crisis, the Vietnam era (I did not serve in that war) and pretty much everything since. This APPEARS to be the worst crisis in a while. What we all need remember is that we need substantiated facts rather that going off like a bunch of post menopausal women who have a cat stuck in the attic. Just sayin.

Interesting article here I have not seen anyone link to

there is also this....
The Tyler Durden moniker appears to substantiate what he says about Medvedev from something published in The Hill, link here
these articles to me at least were particularly interesting..... The one from the drive and ZeroHedge because of what the future may mean for us all with a destabilized Russia.....
Regards

Thanks! Most my day is spent on my own private OSINT work for my twitter. I flip over here to the forums every 5 minutes it seems throughout the day when I need to rest my eyes scrolling through data/info. Then I dump what I find here. Seems natural I become moderator to keep the place clean & orderly since I spend most my day online here or elsewhere. ;)

My career before I retired gives me a real good or better understanding of geopolitical events so glad to relay my own personal anylisis when the opportunities present themselves.

Yes it has really shaken me personally. Didn't think it would get this far. My prepping has been in overhaul. Even help paying to move my family down here and set them up in nice houses near me. This crisis has made me want to keep my family close, should show you how uncomfortably close (for me at least) we have come.

Now this is somthing that I wanted to do down the line and not just because of the crisis. But speeding it up since the crisis.
