Vladimir Putins rhetoric has reached “highest degrees of combat readiness”

Put up or shut up.
Well the closer he gets to failure in Ukraine the higher it will climb.
It’s such a tired and old threat.
While it could always be more than idle threats I suppose.
We will it seems never know till we really know.

Sep/Oct is the traditional high season for nuclear drills in Russia. Take that into account when analyzing news reports.

GROM-2022 took place last October, and was a fairly subdued affair. Keep an eye out on this year's edition.

Is that why they are called "the missiles of October?" j/k

Haven't heard that one, but October always held a special place in the USSR mythos due to the October Revolution (which actually took place in November... eh, Russia. 🤷‍♂️)

They say the best time to bomb NATO is in August, because everyone's on vacation, while the best time to bomb Russia is in January for the same reason.

It's a reference to the Cuban missile crisis. There was a movie released years ago called The Missiles of October about the Cuban Missile Crisis, and it is a nod to Tuchman's book The Guns of August about WW1. Apparently, Kennedy was wrestling with some of the common themes that led to WW1 while trying to manage the Cuban missile crisis. Totally not related to what you were bringing up, other than the references to October and nuclear missiles.

"We promised what would happen next," –– the commander of the Air Force reacted to the strike in Sevastopol.

They didn't say whose air force, did not provide a source reference, and I can't find this statement on any other news channel.

Early reactions from the Russian side (outside the official circles) are as follows:
  • Exact "tenfold" revenge
  • Time to bomb the Presidential Office and the General Staff HQ in Kyiv
  • Shoot down NATO reconnaisance aircraft in the Black Sea basin
So far the official reaction is limited to a MoD press release confirming the attack and claiming that one serviceman "is missing" (corrected from "killed") while six are wounded.

Okay, seems to be a statement made by the Ukrainian air force CINC Nikolai Oleshchuk, who is reported to have said:

We had promised that 'there would be more'... Once again, I wish to thank the pilots of the Air Force.

Actually there was a lesson in The Guns of August, The Missiles of October, and Thirteen Days that I hope our leaders and Russian leaders are cognizant of. When conflict started in WW1, leaders on both sides followed their war plans, rather rigidly, based on experiences from a previous war and out of date assumptions about the adversary. It led to protracted trench warfare and prolonged stalemate. My hope is that both sides in the current Ukraine conflict are willing to take a look at this from a broader breadth of perspective, and are willing to disregard a war plan or rule of engagement if there is an opportunity to end this thing peacefully before it escalates to a nuclear confrontation.

I'm gonna say fat chance.

Flashy as they are, attacks such as the one today ultimately don't mean much. We all pay far too much attention to standoff missile attacks, and not nearly enough attention to the real war, which is the meatgrinder on the contact line.

Putin might, however, jump on this opportunity to announce more mobilization. Russia happens to be in dire need of additional meat.

I know.... but hope springs eternal....

Russian Black Sea fleet HQ hit by rocket attack – governor

Sevastopol's top official Mikhail Razvozhaev has urged calm following the incident

An “enemy” rocket has struck the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol, the leader of the Crimean city reported on Friday.

Mikhail Razvozhaev, who serves as governor of the federal-level city, urged residents to keep calm and wait for updates. No immediate reports on casualties or damage were available, he said.

The official stated that some debris fell near a theater in Sevastopol, and called on the public to report any such discoveries to the authorities.

Ive seen the satellite before and after. That base took a pounding
Russia reports that a Boeing P-8a Poseidon was in the air during the attack of the HQ .
and your point is? Look if Russians are tired of massive Casualties they can always stop the war.

The Ukraine and Russia should sit down and discuss terms of surrender.

Im sure the Ukraines will accept Vladimirs surrender.
😇

My point is that the Ukrainians are used to wage the war of the United States and NATO as a proxy.
The plan has existed since 2014, Americans like you have too simple worldview.

Here, too, there is not only black and white, even if you don't understand that. It is not a war for democracy or for freedom, it is a war for the strategic interests of the United States.

Freedom and democracy are the tools which grease the strategic interests of the United States. They can go hand in hand together.

Huh? United States is not conducting a war in Ukraine. Last time I checked, Russia invaded Ukraine, and I think you'll find evidence of that even on Russia Today.
Russia is the country that has mobilized for war in Ukraine. Russia has initiated forms of conscription to support its war against Ukraine. Russia is the aggressor.

There has been no mobilization effort or conscription in the US to wage war in Ukraine or against Russia.

I’m good helping kill Russian invaders and child kidnappers.

To be clear this is about killing Russians inside of the UA and those supporting the invasion. Who said anything about Democracy? Not me.

Russians need to face reality. You guys just aren’t very good at this. And while the US Absolutely sucks at nation building, we make killing people and breaking things look easy.

You guys were sitting back thinking how hard can it be? Well we practice, a lot. We also concentrate on killing, not stealing appliances and kidnapping children.

We are very happy to arm the Ukrainians to kill Russians and the Ukrainians are very happy to kill Russians, if we arm them. See that’s that whole symbiotic Ying Yang Kumbaya shit going on.

Russia needs to whine less or go home. For god sakes man have some fucking dignity.

Isn't that what war is generally about! Political and strategic interests in the extreme. When all else fails the US will kick down your door, drag you out and kill you! Our military is very good at it, IF THE POLITICIANS LET THEM!
