| UA-RU WAR | NATO Crisis | ANALYSIS & DISCUSSION

So Trump basically just declared that both sides had agreed to a ceasefire.... when Zelensky didn't know about it (and Russia was striking energy targets as he sent that out..?). Sounds like he just made it up and hoped it was followed.
Wishful thinking or whatever the White House FP analysts have laid out as their official strategy regarding ending this war. Fake it till you make it, or at least until everyone that disagrees with you is dead/out of power. Hopefully the Magic 8 Ball gives our Commander in Chief anything other than an, "I don't know, come back tomorrow."

Thoroughly disgusted.

DN I’m disgusted too, I’m disgusted we, the US and all NATO members did not confront the invasion more seriously and aggressively from the start.
I’m disgusted we did not seriously count the cost that it would take to deter Russians fighting what they regard as a defensives war near their borders. And irrespective of how we see the causes of Russia, this is absolutely what is motivating Russia, correctly or incorrectly.

You know I have been encouraging more direct involvement from the US and NATO for several years now. That simply sending weapons and intel alone to Ukraine would not be enough. I’ve repeatedly pointed out the inconsistencies on Russian oil and gas sanctions not just with India and China but Europe and US as well.

It’s not working, and over 1 million are dead. The attacks on Oct 7th and war in Gaza are less then 1000000. And half the world is screaming genocide.

So is there a military and a proven enforceable economic plan to win it for Ukraine?
Has anyone convincingly argued that if we just keep sending more weapons and aid to Ukraine. While globally and halfheartedly trying to sanction Russian oil and gas. Is going to lead to victory for Ukraine. I haven’t heard it.

Im not just disgusted, I’m embarrassed that once again we committed to a path and failed to count the cost or implement a strategy, a dangerous, strategy. That would lead to victory. Does Russia look like it’s going to collapse? Now or at anytime in the past four years.

But just continuing to send the same levels of aid and half-heartedly enforce sanctions has not worked for several years. Not just during this presidents second term.

We either need to go all in in a much more significant and likely kinetic way. Or try to end it as satisfactory as possible.

Now agreeing to a diesel supply deal now is clearly a change in course. The necessity or cause for it is clearly impacted due to the fighting in the Gulf and the combined impact on diesel supplies.
And what of Ukraines response to US request to stop or limit attacks on Russian diesel supplies and refining, No. ok why are we still sending patriot batteries to an “ally” who is refusing our request.

But everyone is screaming about diesel supplies, not just in the US but worldwide.

Given how tepidly Europe supported recent US Israeli and let’s not forget Several Gulf States actions against Iran.
Do we really believe the major nations in Europe were going to get behind kinetic actions against Russia? Let alone drumming up enough support domestically in the US to escalate. And that would be exactly what it is, an escalation.

So sure keep sending billions of dollars to a war where millions of Russian and Ukrainians have died. All while continuing to see most of the world half heartedly enforce sanctions or import bans.
In 2026 Europe still receives 13 % of their energy supplies from Russia. It’s down from the prewar 40%. But it’s still flowing.

Why would Ukraine limit attacks on Russian diesel supplies & refining when Russia won't do the same & will continue striking Ukrainian energy? Asking an ally to fight with one hand tied behind their back and then using it to justify not supporting them is quite the statement.

Sure I get it and it’s a choice they’re free to make. If I was in their shoes I might make that choice. That does not mean they can assume it wont provoke a reaction from said ally to make a choice I might not be happy with.

This argument can just as easily be used against Ukraine, they said no -we said no.

Make no mistake I do not like the situation for Ukraine, not at all. I’m just being realistic. What can or must be done to force Russia to end hostilities in a manner that Ukraine accept?

If a plan to defeat or divert Russia out of Ukraine cannot be named and also supported by a majority of NATO.
Then what are we doing other than ignoring reality.

Approaching Putin regarding diesel is of course pressure on Ukraine. Why is it excepted that US or any other nation must continue to support this war forever with the same failed tactics and policies of the last five years.

Other wise send in the stealth fighters B-2, carpet bomb the Russian forces on the front lines. Destroy all transportation avenues from Russia to the front in Ukraine. Deploy an army corp to Ukraine and start blockading Russian ports.
you either are completely committed to supporting and defending Ukraine with everything. Or just keep playing at it.
We’re at a million dead and 360 billion burned.
Is this what we signed on for in 2022, I signed on to win and if we’re not committed to that then we might as well try to end it or cut bait.

Yo

You might be right, I don’t fully support or believe the administration tactics to bring the war to an end will work. I can understand the actions with Putin but don’t believe those alone will be sufficient. We are likely going to have to put some military pressure on Russia to get them to negotiate. Just as we’re having to put some tactics pressure on Ukraine. It’s not the first time an administration tried to control or limit Ukraines tactics to limit unintended consequences.

FT exclusive: before Trump suddenly announced an energy ceasefire between Russia & Ukraine today (catching Zelenskyy by surprise, & possibly also Putin…), US officials had spent the weekend calling European capitals & threatening to stop Europeans from purchasing U.S. weapons for Ukraine if Kyiv didn’t stop its attacks on Russian oil refineries, European & Ukrainian officials tell my colleagues

Thoroughly disgusted.

Several US Senators have released a statement calling on President Trump to reverse course on allowing the importation of Russian diesel. They include Republicans Collins, Murkowski, Tillis and Curtis as well as Democrats Shaheen, Blumenthal and Wyden.

I'm not back. Just. Couldn't not say nothing. As a American. I am deeply disturbed and thoroughly again disgusted.

⚠️📢👏Also... Totally unrelated but since I am here... Ukraine destroyed the Russian bot farms. Suddenly almost half of Russian supporters, Iranian supporters, & even MAGA accounts online stopped posting, liking, or engaging.

👏👉If you look at any comment section anywhere with tweets from White House, Trump, or any account that supports Russia, Iran, or MAGA for that matter. You can see in the analytics how many of these people's followers & engagement where bots!!!

👏👉X last few days since Ukraine destroyed Russian bot farms has been very good. Very peaceful even. Like the feeling you get after a hurricane passes. A weird calm....

👏😏👉Funny. Ukraine did this weeks before midterms too. Ukraine truly is the super hero of our days.

I mean...................... So Ukraine hit many Russian data center and suddenly bot traffic on US social media has dropped 49% (AS A FACT). Now.... Republicans are starting to claim Ukrainian interference in the midterms with a straight face on social media????

Also big NOTE. Elon has said he is unhappy about Ukraine hitting Russian bot farms and quote "crossed a line". Jeeze. They don't even try to hide it anymore do they?

Honestly didn't believe it myself at first until I checked it out myself. Please. Go look. Everyone. Lol it's nuts. Again feels like the calm after a long hurricane on social media right now. You can say whatever against Russia, Iran, China, MAGA, and not one account is gonna come and try to mess with you. It's great. Weird. But great!

🤌🙄 Oh and ONE more thing.... Since apparently nobody wants to ask the obvious question.

Where the HELL is the investigation into Elon Musk and X???

I mean.... Jesus Christ. Ukraine knocks out multiple Russian Yandex data centers, automated traffic coming out of that infrastructure falls off a cliff, and we're all just gonna sit here pretending there aren't some VERY serious questions that need answering???

What did Elon Musk and X know about Russian influence operations on their platform? WHEN did they know? How many coordinated foreign accounts were identified? How many were allowed to continue operating? Who made those decisions? And WHY???

And what about Musk's reported comments concerning the Ukrainian strikes? I'd like to see exactly what he said, in context, and hear him explain his position.

I'm not saying the man was personally writing checks to Russian bot farms. I'm saying somebody needs to investigate what the hell was going on, what his company knew, and whether anything was deliberately ignored or tolerated.

Get the internal records. Get the actual engagement data. Have independent investigators examine it.

And before someone starts screaming about partisan politics, I don't give a SHIT whether the propaganda benefits Republicans, Democrats, or the fucking Easter Bunny. Foreign governments manipulating American political discourse is a national security issue. PERIOD.

If there's nothing there, fantastic! Then an investigation should establish that.

But this whole business of everyone looking the other way???

🤌 Give me a break. Share this far and wide EVERYONE. This is not getting enough coverage!!!!!!!!!

Anyways I'll respond tomorrow when I'm not so overtly baffled and dumbfounded and pissed the fuck off. Seriously didn't believe any of this myself until I looked into it!!!!!

I have spent so long battling disinformation and foreign operations and now we have almost unequivocal evidence of it and it's not getting enough attention. Please. Share far and wide. 🙏

It should be remembered, Bot activity is a two way street.

As a practical matter, Ukraine attacks on data centers and Bot farms are still a legitimate target. And they can have an impact but we shouldn’t overestimate their impact.

The internet is a dispersed digital organism, there are no singular IP addresses that can be “attacked” and disabled. A half dozen popular IP addresses masked by a VPN can still have significant impact.
Until consumers of media become sophisticated enough to disregard not only adversarial post from trusted sources. But also post from sources they generally tend to trust.
I’m dismissing 2-3 breaking news reports from news sites I ordinarily trust because they just don’t pass the smell test or they’re reaching premature conclusions.

If Ukraine is the “super hero of our day” why are we only complaining about what the current administration is not doing.
Rather than pushing early on for direct kinetic involvement by nato.

Or do you actually believe continuing the policies and engagement of the last four years is going to result in victory for Ukraine.
Or is this still just about bleeding Russia.
