North Korea says it tested new ballistic missile with ‘super-large’ warhead​

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has overseen the successful tests of two types of tactical ballistic missiles, including one with a “super-large conventional warhead” and an “improved” cruise missile, according to North Korean state media.
The tests involved Hwasongpho-11-Da-4.5 missiles, mounted with a 4.5-tonne super-large conventional warhead, KCNA said. North Korea previously announced tests for that weapon in July.

Maybe, but also may be putting most of their eggs into a massive missile attack basket.
How long would a traditional ground attack actually last? Wouldn’t it be quickly repulsed by S.K as well as US capabilities?

NK's plan has always been to invade and forcefully reunite the two countries. So they would need access to the South.

Cutting road and rail, aside from the symbolic, could be a means to forestall what they think could be an invasion from the South.

The move marks an escalation and Pyongyang calls it a response to war exercises that have been held in South Korea.

North Korea has ordered Eight Artillery Brigades along the Border with South Korea to Full-Combat Readiness, with them told to move to Standby Fire Positions. This comes after the North Korean Government claimed that South Korean Drones recently dropped Leaflets over Pyongyang.

An unidentified ministry spokesperson said the North Korea’s military ordered relevant units to fully prepare for situations like launching immediate strikes on unspecified enemy targets when South Korea infiltrates drones across the border again, possibly triggering fighting on the Korean Peninsula, according to the statement.

The spokesperson said that “grave touch-and-go military tensions are prevailing on the Korean Peninsula” because of the South Korean drone launches. In a separate statement later Sunday, the spokesperson said that the entire South Korean territory “might turn into piles of ashes” following the North’s powerful attack.

N. Korea appears to be preparing for explosions on roads connected to S. Korea: JCS
SEOUL, Oct. 14 (Yonhap) -- North Korea appears to be preparing to carry out explosions at roads connected to South Korea, South Korea's military said Monday.

"Following an announcement by the North's Korean People's Army (KPA) on Oct. 9, the North Korean military has been carrying out activities assumed to be linked to explosions on the roads along the Gyeongui and Donghae lines," the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said.

The JCS said it is closely monitoring such activities that are taking place north of the Military Demarcation Line and seeking safety measures for troops and South Korean people.

On Wednesday, the KPA said it will cut off all roads and railways connected to South Korea and build "strong defense structures" in the areas in response to South Korea-U.S. military maneuvers.
