The first post that contains any personal attack, insult, etcetera will earn that poster a Ban.
Please, keep it on topic.
Good as I am sure many of us get fed up with the same worn out behaviour that has occurred in past. I can only commend, support and encourage this stand.

Just wondering what happened to discussion thread, I was hoping to ask anyone interested what they might be thinking of sending to Ukraine.

Ok I am very bad at embedding posts if someone could enlighten me with the proper wisdom...

Just concerned that Putin might have convinced Trump through the former's pseudo-intellectualism about a very unfavourable peace for Ukraine and Europe. Even unsure how they could have discussed a solution and what it could look like given indications that Russia clearly don't even want a frozen conflict and neither does exactly Ukraine either, they want some kind of security guarantees and an insurance from Russian influence. Will be interesting to see what Zelensky thinks about what they have talked about in the call, but I am guessing it is most likely connected to the plan to be presented in Munich. If it is something super unreasonable and bad for Europe and Ukraine, Trump will likely use tariffs and support threats in order to blackmail them into accepting the terms.

I guess at this stage Ukraine will have to think of what they can honestly do. They’re at a manpower disadvantage and have shown they don’t want to increase the draft age and they are overly reliant on partners who are never going to ship them the quantity of weapons needed to actually win the war. Realistically Ukraine isn’t going to be able to take back the occupied territory without a massive manpower influx that they just don’t have the resources for. I’m afraid in 5/6 years we’ll be seeing another Russian push for more of Ukraine unfortunately unless someone in the west grows a spine and pushes for actual measures towards ensuring Ukrainian security for whatever concessions the Ukrainians are going to have to make.

IF a lasting peace and security agreement can be reached along territorial swap AND security guarantees for Ukraine.
There would be a situation where both sides could claim a tacit victory. Ukraine has kept its independence and bolstered its security. Russia gets some perceived territorial and ethnic protection gains. Ukraine didn’t keep their original boarders and Russia didn’t get all of Ukraine back. Europe Russia and Ukraine all get their tangibly real or perceived security guarantees. And the world moves on.
Note: this all of course is based upon tangible and durable securities for all. And time will be the only proof in that situation. And in that future new world players will judge if the guarantees out weigh any expansionist ambitions they might be pondering. Hopefully those guarantees and re-establish relations and trade win out.

Sadly the war had to be fought, whose fault will be disputed for decades likely. If the Ukrainian people can have independence and security and determination. Then it will be win for everyone, at great cost of course. But that’s kinda how nations behave with each other. Real life is a timeline not a snap shot

I find it interesting Hegseth mentioned pre-2014 borders rather than pre-2022 so maybe there’s actually some room for negotiation on those areas but who knows.

REPORTER: "Aren't you squeezing out President Zelensky from this process?”

TRUMP: “No, I don't think so, as long as he's there. But at some point you're gonna have to have elections too. You're gonna have to have an election.” @atrupar.

Video:

Sounds awfully like "Zelensky is not a legitimate leader because he wasn't elected for another term and thus we can't negotiate with him."

Those Euros need to get f'in serious about sending peacekeepers...

Trump: Most leaders saw Ukraine not joining NATO and I'm okay with that and Ukraine has to make peacer.

I think the deal Trump is proposing is to receive the minerals in exchange for the U.S. providing large amounts of weapons to effectively replenish the Ukranian stock piles so if the Russians try this again they will have much better weapons from the start. If the ukranians are okay with trading the resources it’s not the worst deal as they’d be considerably more powerful then they were three years ago.

So we are supposed to give up our national territory, vow never to join NATO no matter what Russia does to us, AND also give Donald Trump our rare earth metals?

That's a very interesting deal from an aggressor and a partner that was to support our security in exchange for giving up our nuclear weapons, missile armaments, and strategic bomber fleet..

Gotta admit I understand what Trump is offering with the minerals not a fan personally though. But if we’re being honest there is zero chance Ukraine regains all of its territory. It’s clear its partners aren’t going to provide the weapons nor do they have the manpower. Also there’s more than the United States that won’t let them in NATO Spain, Slovakia, Hungary, Germany, and Turkey have all said they would veto it. Nobody likes it but it’s clear Ukraine’s allies arent going to do anything about it so if your Ukraine what’s your options? Try and make a deal with the hope you can rebuild your army and try to gain some deterrence through international peacekeepers, or keep fighting slowly losing territory hoping for a miracle Russian collapse that isn’t all that likely.
Also Ukraine couldn’t detonate the nuclear weapons they had nor could they have afforded to maintain them if they did. Still no excuse for the signatories not following through on their agreements but the truth is they couldn’t really do anything with them.

What a shit show this world has become. WW3 likely in the next 5-10 years based on the signs leading up to WW2. I hope people that voted for Trump are happy with this outcome. I personally believe he was installed by Russia as we are essentially already at war with them. No way the country can be this stupid. I’ll take that to my grave.
