It’s a game of chicken. The US relies on minerals from Canada about 47%
Canadas exports to US account for 60-70+% of canadas total exports.

This is less a trade war and a political gambit on upcoming US elections.

Canada has significant quotas and tariffs on US agriculture and steal and auto parts imports.
Pick a side there is no moral high ground here just economic self interest.
Otherwise known as trade negotiations, not a foreign policy collapse. No matter the rhetoric.
And no the US is not going to invade Canada.

And one detail cuts through the rhetoric: Roughly 95% of Canadian imports still enter the U.S. tariff-free under USMCA. This was never simply “America attacking Canada. In fact, Alberta has no intention of joining the USA, you took articles or it's a tiny group that wants that, I could do the same for California and several northeastern states of the USA, which want to leave the USA.

From what I see I don't think Alberta necessarily want to become a US State but their own little country.
