What does this post have to do with the memorial for Mr. Kirk? It wasn't even from it.
It has nothing at all to do with the memorial specifically. I think it was posted as a contrast and comparison to how MAGA reacts to the death of one of their own versus the (imminent) death of a liberal.
Here is the feed for Acyn. I scrolled down through it and did not find anything positive about President Trump or the Republican or Conservative parties. Just more Donald Trump and the right bad!
I did not look at the Acyn feed, but I did verify that the video of Donald Trump saying that is legitimate.
So, we have the tragic (and unnecessary) murder of Charlie Kirk, who was exercising his First Amendment rights.
(I disagree with his viewpoints, but he should not have been killed for voicing them, and I am not the only non-conservative saying that.) Trump and the right hold a massive memorial service for Kirk during which they practically canonize him and drop hints of revenge and more political violence.
(Again, they had the First Amendment right to do this.) Meanwhile, many liberal celebrities expressed their condolences for Kirk and his family, and condemned his murder and political violence in general. Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Bill Maher, Barrack Obama... all of them made similar statements of sorrow, sympathy, and a call for an end to political violence.
In contrast, we have a very old man who is battling a cancer that will most likely kill him. How does the right react? They choose to insult and demean him.
I have tried very hard over the past 17 years to respect the viewpoints of conservatives even though I disagree with a lot of them. But this country has now crossed a line in the sand for me. Why should I respect people who support a party and a President that can't hold a civilized conversation with anyone that disagrees with them? They certainly don't respect me or my opinions, and they don't even want to hear that there are some issues where I do lean conservative. They don't care about that. All they care about is that I do not worship at the feet of Donald Trump, and that makes me free game for verbal abuse that no one should have to tolerate.
So, when you say
"Just more Donald Trump and the right bad!" my response is,
"Yes, exactly." There is more than ample evidence regarding the mindset of Donald Trump and his sycophants, and yes, it's bad. Their behavior spits in the faces of thousands of veterans who fought and won against this exact same mindset in World War II. If this is the behavior you support and you want to be representative of America, then you and I have no common ground for a civilized discussion, and to quote Bill Maher, I have no use for you. That's the difference between me and you. If you were killed for expressing your beliefs, I would still support your First Amendment rights to express those beliefs, condemn the violence, and voice my sympathy to your family. If I were killed for expressing my beliefs, you would celebrate it and claim that I had it coming. The best-case scenario is that you just wouldn't care.
Notice that even with everything I had to say, I still did my best to not launch into a personal attack on you; I'm attacking your belief structure based on your unwavering support of extremely evil people who don't give a shit about you, me, or anyone else who is not part of their innermost circle. Yes, Donald Trump and the right are indeed bad. But by the time you realize that for yourself, it will be too late.
