The involvement of the US nuclear potential in military exercises around North Korea affects Russia’s interests, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said during a Security Council meeting. Nebenzya noted the militarization of the region with direct involvement of Washington and other NATO member states, "located tens of thousands of kilometers away from North Korea."
"In this context, it is obvious that, in the past years, sanctions failed to contribute to the achievement of the goals, set by the international community, and have not led to normalization of the situation around the peninsula. This situation does not encourage dialogue, especially after Washington demonstrated unfair play for the entire world to see," the Russian diplomat concluded.
On March 28, Russia used veto power to block the US draft resolution on extension of the mandate of the UN Security Council 1718 Sanctions Committee that monitors the implementation of sanctions against North Korea.

And would like to have hear his defense of soviet and Russian missile and nuclear technology to the DPRK and its impact on the proliferation and militarization of the region.
Maybe it’s no wonder the region is still a hot spot after all these years. In spite of efforts to alleviate the tension.

North Korea has conducted a test on a “super-large warhead” designed for a strategic cruise missile, state media reports, adding that it also launched a new type of anti-aircraft missile. “The DPRK Missile Administration has conducted a power test of a super-large warhead designed for ‘Hwasal-1 Ra-3’ strategic cruise missile”, KCNA news agency reported on Saturday, referring to North Korea by an abbreviation for its official name – Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
North Korea also carried out a test launch on Friday afternoon of a “Pyoljji-1-2”, which state media said was a “new-type anti-aircraft missile”.
KCNA added that “a certain goal was attained” through the test without providing further details.

The Australian government said Monday that a Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force fighter jet released flares dangerously close to an Australian Defence Force helicopter over the weekend. The PLAAF jet intercepted the Royal Australian Navy MH-60R helicopter attached to HMAS Hobart in the Yellow Sea and "released flares across the flight path of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) helicopter," the Australian government said in a statement.
The Australian warship was in the area in support of Operation Argos, which is aimed at enforcing sanctions on North Korea.
