North Korea has launched multiple short-range ballistic missiles, South Korea’s military said, as it continues to develop its military weaponry in breach of international sanctions. The 10 missiles were launched from the Sunan area at about 6:14am on Thursday (21:14 GMT on Wednesday) towards the east, South Korea’s joint chiefs of staff said in a statement. The statement said the missiles travelled about 350 kilometres (217 miles) before ditching into the sea.

The fallen balloons appeared to have carried various pieces of trash, such as plastic bottles, batteries, shoe parts and even manure, a JCS official said, with military officials collecting the objects for a detailed analysis.
"These acts by North Korea clearly violate international law and seriously threaten our people's safety," the JCS said. "(We) sternly warn North Korea to immediately stop its inhumane and vulgar act."

But Joost Oliemans, an expert on the DPRK military and author of “The Armed Forces of North Korea,” used software to unblur the photo and found that the poster showed the rifle could be chambered with NATO-caliber ammunition.

The top of the unblurred poster clearly reads “newly designed calibers 5.45mm and 5.56mm,” he noted, describing this as “Warsaw-pact legacy and NATO standard” calibers.

The expert suggested that North Korea is likely considering the introduction of a 5.56x45mm NATO rifle, possibly derived from Russia-made AK models but distinct from the DPRK’s recent modifications to its Type-88, a knockoff of the AK.

The rifle also appears distinct from other automatic firearms Kim showcased and tested last August, including North Korea’s version of the Belgian FN SCAR-type assault rifle that likely uses Soviet calibers, Oliemans said.

From the night of May 28 to the dawn of June 2, we scattered 15 tons of wastepaper, favorite toy of the human scum, over the border areas of the ROK and its capital region with more than 3 500 balloons of various sorts.
We made the ROK clans get enough experience of how much unpleasant they feel and how much effort is needed to remove the scattered wastepaper.
We are going to halt wastepaper scattering over the border temporarily as our action was a countermeasure from A to Z.
But, if the ROK clans resume anti-DPRK leaflet scattering, we will correspond to it by intensively scattering wastepaper and rubbish hundred times the amount of scattered leaflets and the number of cases, as we have already warned.
